Imaginary
timber: James Galvin
US writer James Galvin has published six books of poems, including Resurrection Update: Collected Poems 1975-1997, and is the recipient of many awards and honours. Though his work life is based at the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where he is a member of the permanent faculty, Galvin has long spent part of each year in Wyoming, the setting for his two prose volumes. The critically acclaimed non-fiction The Meadow is an intimate work exploring the relationship between place and human life, and his novel Fencing the Sky chronicles the disappearance of the American West. He discusses his work with broadcaster Lynn Freeman.
