Waitakere Disagrees On Maori Representation
Waitakere Agrees To Disagree On Maori Representation
Waitakere City Council has agreed to allow it's Te Taumata Runanga standing committee on Maori affairs to make a separate submission to the Royal Committee on Auckland governance.
Te Taumata Runanga had recommended Waitakere City include provision for Maori seats in its submission but Councillors rejected the proposal and instead proposed the Waitakere's consultative model of Te Taumata Runanga be adopted.
The Council adopted a resolution to: Agree that the Te Taumata Runanga should present its own submission to the Royal Commission in order that the views of Maori in Waitakere are represented. Notwithstanding those views may differ from current council policy.
