Out in the Square date announced
The date for Wellington’s Out in the Square 2009 has just been announced.
The event, a favourite on Wellington’s social calendar, will be held on Saturday 28 February at Civic Square as part of the Wellington City Council’s Summer City Festival.
“We are really excited and so looking forward to bringing another fabulous GLBTI event to the heart of Wellington city,” says Out Wellington’s Virginia Hopkins-Burns.
Out in the Square, which attracted around 8,000 people last year, will take place between other Wellington events such as the Children’s Art Festival and Vodafone’s Homegrown.
Organisers of the event say they have been working all year on planning for the next fair and will take on board large amounts of feedback gained at this year’s event.
“We were lucky enough to have a sizeable number of the community willing to give very valuable feedback,” says Virginia. “People who were very interested in seeing this fair continue for years and years to come.”
The date originally planned for next year’s fair was unavailable so the event will take place a week earlier than usual, in February.
Out Wellington, organisers of the fair, are holding their annual general meeting on July 15 and would like anyone interested in helping out as a volunteer, or just those who wish to attend, to come along to the Awhina Centre at 6pm.
“Come along and help us make the next Out in the Square one to remember!”
