Tender released
for provision of ferry services to Half Moon Bay and
Bayswater
The Auckland Regional Transport
Authority (ARTA) has released a tender for the provision of
emergency ferry services to Half Moon Bay and
Bayswater.
The release of the tender document follows Fullers’ decision to discontinue ferry services to Half Moon Bay and Bayswater from mid-January 2009.
ARTA’s General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert, says, “Both local and international ferry operators have been approached to gauge interest to provide the services as have Fullers.
Mr Lambert says the tender document which has been placed on tender site, LG Tenders, asks ferry operators to provide for the existing timetable.
Mr Lambert says ARTA is committed to the provision of ongoing ferry services to both areas and that services will be in operation in mid-January following the cessation of Fullers’ 90 day notice period.
It is anticipated that following on from the emergency services contract, ARTA will introduce a new twelve year contract for provision of the Half Moon Bay and Bayswater services. A tender for the long-term contract is being finalised.
