Classic Hits Kamo Santa Parade

Classic Hits Kamo Santa Parade & Street Festival is revving up to be bigger, better & bolder than ever before! On Saturday, 13th December Kamo Road will come alive with festive decorations, song, dance and of course Santa!

Festivities kick off in the Kamo Road Shopping centre from 9am with the Night Life Band playing outside Four Square & performances from Mike Easterbrook the Magician, The Whangarei Community Circus, Hip Hop group – X Kwisit, Fantasy Cheerleaders, Whangarei Academy of Gymnastics, Variety Band & look out for the friendly Northland Youth Theatre characters roaming the streets.

Most retail store owners will be holding stalls on the pavement outside their premises & this year we have a good number of community groups & individuals will also be setting up shop along the main road. Among the stall holders, Parihaka Girl Guides will be selling candy floss outside Kamo Four Square & beads & glass wear will be sold by Keri Keri artists Glyns & Stanley.

At 11am, the judging for the best three floats will take place, as decided by our panel including Jenny Barrett of The Arts Promotion Trust, Councilor Vince Cocurullo & Murray Madden of The Radio Network.

This parade promises to be the most spectacular yet, with over 40 floats including entries from the Whangarei Kart Club, The Indian Community, Whangarei Dog Training, Mair Town Kindergarten & Te Kohunga Reo O Manaakitia.

At midday The Parade will travel out of Meldrum St, north of the lights, and proceed straight down Kamo Rd to finish at the Kamo High School grounds, finishing with the children’s favourite - the traditional lollie scramble, kindly sponsored by the Kamo Four Square. The road from the traffic lights at Three Mile Bush Rd intersection to the Clark Rd intersection will be closed from 11:30am. In the event that it rains, the parade will instead turn left into Wilkinson Avenue & the floats will return to where they started.

Cash prizes sponsored by Variety Number One & The Radio Network will be awarded to the winners.

Don't miss it!
