MEDIA RELEASE

Waiheke Wine Festival – better than ever before!

Tickets are selling fast for the Waiheke Wine Festival to be held at the Isola Estate on Saturday 7 February. The one day celebration of the fruits of the “Island of Wine” features a wide selection of award winning and high quality Waiheke wines matched with delicious fresh food and a great entertainment programme.

Event Director Kathy Cunningham says “An amazing day out is promised at the Waiheke Wine Festival for anyone who appreciates quality wine, great food and top entertainment. We have just welcomed onboard our 10th winery, Poderi Crisci. So with an extensive range of delicious wines from local vineyards and music from the likes of Nathan Haines, Autozamm, James Reid from The Feelers, Donald Reid, Miriam Clancy and House of Shem I think we can guarantee a great summer festival atmosphere on Saturday February 7.”

Due to the current economic situation plans to extend the event to three days with a special opening long lunch on the Friday and closing with a Sunday brunch the day after the main Festival have been postponed until next year.

Organisers are delighted to welcome one exclusive non-Waiheke wine producer to the event. French Champagne from Bollinger will compliment the local wines on offer and add to the celebratory feel of this Waitangi Weekend event.

Proceeds from the Festival will benefit The First Tee of New Zealand, the charity which helps build self esteem in young people from all walks of life through the game of golf.
