Westpac Helicopter Rescues Unconscious Boy
Wellington Westpac Rescue helicopter responds to a ten
yr old knocked unconscious on Rimutaka Incline
The Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called this afternoon Sunday 1st Feb 09 at 3:13pm to a ten year old boy that had fallen from his bike and had been knocked unconscious.
A passing Cyclist had ridden approx several km to raise the alarm by cellphone.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded with two Wellington Free Paramedics on board and located approximately fifteen minutes later at the scene. The patient had been moved in a four wheel drive but was returned to the scene once they realised the rescue helicopter was searching for them.
Both the child and his father were transported to Wellington Public Hospital Emergency department for further assessment
The ten yr old boy is currently being treated for a mild head injury and a nasty head laceration
