Te Whare Oki Oki – a residential model for supporting people with enduring addiction and physical health problems, is the topic for Director Stephanie McIntyre’s presentation at the Journey Forward Stakeholders Forum in Porirua next week.

Although still in the planning stage Te Whare Oki Oki, the proposed Wet House for Wellington, has been lauded as a viable and constructive model for addressing alcohol-related homelessness.

The presentation provides an opportunity for consumers, their families and people working in the Health sector to hear and discuss this innovative approach to service delivery.

The forum, hosted by Capital and Coast District Health Board’s Journey Forward leadership group, will host groups involved in mental health and addiction services in Wellington area. The programme will begin with a focus on the direction and progress of the Journey Forward programme.

Other sessions will address Primary Mental Health, Access to Mental Health Services as well as a number of concurrent sessions.

The Journey Forward Stakeholders Forum is being held at the Pacific Island Church, 2 Champion St, Cannons Creek, Porirua from 1pm – 4:30pm.
