Westpac Helicopter Rescues
The Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance responded to Wharepapa South at midday today to assist / transport an 17 year old climber that fell 8m to the ground while climbing near Castle Rock. His fall was arrested to some extent by landing on one of his class mates, that also required transport to hospital for assessment of an ankle injury.
The climbing group where from a school in Auckland. The climber that fell sustained a significant spinal injury that will keep him in Hospital for some time, a full recover is expected in time.
