Calling for ideas on the region’s parks
Calling for ideas on the region’s parks
16 March 2009
Are you interested in how the regional parks are managed? The Auckland Regional Council (ARC) is reviewing the Regional Parks Management Plan and consultation starts today.
The ARC manages regional parks on behalf of the people of the Auckland region and for the next month, the public has the opportunity to comment on what should be included in the review.
The management plan sets out the big picture for how we will manage the regional parks. It covers everything that happens on the parks, from conserving natural and cultural features to managing recreation and supporting community involvement.
The new management plan will run for 10 years, so we need to think ahead and plan for the future. There are several big picture questions that we will be considering in the review and we would like to engage with the community.
This is part one of a two-stage consultation process. Your next opportunity to have your say on the draft management plan is in October 2009 through a formal submission and hearing process.
The management plan review process and questionnaire can be viewed and downloaded online at: www.arc.govt.nz/parksplanreview
