Napier Lockdown Update
Napier Civil Defence is preparing for a prolonged event and will proceed as planned to accommodate evacuees for a second night.
As at 3pm today 27 people are registered for accommodation this evening. Where possible people should try staying with family and friends, however should people require accommodation they are encouraged to register at the Welfare Centre at Napier Intermediate School, in Jull Street, as early as possible to help the operation run smoothly.
Napier Civil Defence has planned a roster for the next 48 hours and Civil Defence Controller Dennis Morgan says his team is prepared for the long haul.
If people have queries they are advised to phone Napier Civil Defence on 835 7579.
