Blue Chip Victims Win Lotto First Division
A Mt Maunganui couple who lost hundreds of thousands of dollars through Blue Clip investments are over the moon after winning a share of Lotto First Division at the weekend.
The local winners, who do not wish to be named, won $216,279 after a last minute Lotto ticket purchase on Saturday afternoon.
The couple told NZ Lotteries they have battled through the last year trying to recover their Blue Chip investment.
“It’s been a really stressful year for us so we’re shocked with the win, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
“It’s definitely taken the pressure off our backs and it’s a relief to know we’ll have the extra money to get us through.
“It’s going to be hard to wipe the smiles off our faces now,” the husband said.
The winning ticket was sold at Mt Maunganui New World where the couple purchase their tickets every week.
Store owner Allan Rudkin says this is the first top prize that the store has sold and it couldn’t have gone to a more deserving customer.
The weekend’s $16.3 million Powerball prize, won by a ticket sold at Countdown in Cambridge, was claimed by a Cambridge local earlier this week.
