The Annual Appeal drive for Women’s Refuges

The Annual Appeal drive for Women’s Refuges

It’s the Annual Appeal drive for Women’s Refuges around the country this week and the Wellington Region is making sure that this year the local fundraising is truly exciting!

Wellington Women’s Refuge and Te Whare Rokiroki Maori Women’s Refuge will not only be out on the streets Friday 24th and Saturday 25th July collecting and offering information to the public but will be holding a Mid Winter Charity Auction on the Saturday 25th July.

The auction, held at the Southern Cross Bar will be run by Parekotuku Moore as the Master of Ceremonies and will be addressed by the Hon Rahui Katene. Music will be supplied by the Eli and Lake show.

The events begin at 6pm Saturday with a silent auction and move on towards the main auction at 7pm. Items to be auctioned include NPC Rugby tickets, Symphony Orchestra tickets and a lunch for 4 at Logan Brown.

Wellington Women’s refuge and Te Whare Rokiroki hope that the public will support both the collection and the auction as funds are desperately needed to maintain services to an ever increasing number of women and children. “This year our annual appeal is more significant than ever due to the economic recession” says Coordinator Angela Waddell “We appreciate any and all support that can be offered by our community”
