Victory Fun Run
24 Sept 2009
Getting active, getting together and getting to know the
railway reserve are all good reasons to join the Victory
Community Centre’s community fun run, or walk.
Centre Coordinator, Gareth Cashin says the V5k / Wairepo 5k community event is a good opportunity to join in with a group of people to do some physical activity.
“We’d love to see whole families come together - as walkers or runners - it’s for everyone,” he says. “It’s also the start of the Spring, Strut, Stride programme so it’s a chance to clock up 5Ks with your team mates.”
The fun run is on Saturday 3 of October from 2 to 4pm, and goes from Victory Community Centre, along the Victory Railway Reserve and finishes back at the Victory Community Centre. To entertain people, Gareth says there will be performers en route, and soup and roll at the finish. Entry fee is $2 koha per family and registrations are necessary for catering purposes.
There are performances from the Rai Jin Taiko drumming group and spot prizes for the best-decorated pushchairs and people in fancy dress.
This event is supported by the Heart Foundation, Green Prescription, the Nikau Wellness Service, Victory Community Association, Nelson City New World and Kush Coffee.
