MEDIA RELEASE
For Immediate Release
North Shore Pasefika Festival 09
dedicated to the Samoa Tsunami relief
(North Shore, Auckland, 15 October 09) –This years North Shore Pasefika Festival will have a focus on the Tsunami relief by having a gold coin collection during the Pasefika Festival. There will be 2 collection times with volunteers going around with buckets at 11am and 2pm.
The organizers of the festival believe that the festival provides a opportunity for the pacific island community to come together, raise awareness of the pacific island culture and this year with the Tsunami affecting our pacific island homes a chance for the community to move forward.
The North Shore Pasefika Festival is an annual event run by the North Shore Pasefika Forum since 2006.
The presence of Pasefika people is manifested in the establishment of the North Shore Pasefika Forum Charitable Trust Board, which is an elected autonomous body of Pasefika people for the North Shore Pasefika community.
Over the years the festival has grown to be an important event on the north shore calendar. Attracting a wide range of demographics including the pacific island communities, the Pasefika festival features Stage performances, food stalls , cultural stalls and Touch tournament that is growing in popularity amongst the sporting communities of the North Shore.
