Family Fun Night at Nelson Cathedral
Media Release - Family Fun Night
If you are looking for a family friendly alternative to ‘Trick or Treating’ on Saturday, the Family Fun Night at Nelson Cathedral is the answer.
This is the sixth year the cathedral has offered this event, with numbers building up to several hundred. Priest Assistant Yvonne McLean said the event has proved a popular alternative to Halloween.
“Some people are not happy about the safety of sending children out ‘trick or treating’ and we’ve been really pleased with the response we’ve had by offering an alternative family event,” she said. “The cathedral is a welcoming place for everyone and our Family Fun Night gives a specific opportunity for people to come and see that it is a family friendly place.”
The Family Fun Night this year has a Circus theme and offers a bouncy castle, face painting, a treasure hunt and much more. You can also make an evening meal of it with a range of food including Thai and a barbecue.
There is a fancy dress parade at 6.30pm – with a circus character theme and prizes to be won in different categories and age groups, judging begins at 6:00pm. The event runs from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
