The Lion Foundation supports Northland sports club

The Lion Foundation supports Northland sports club upgrade

Eastern United Rugby & Sports Club’s mission is to provide a fun, safe and social sporting atmosphere for its members and the community – and a recent grant from The Lion Foundation is helping with this aim.

A $6000 grant from the charitable trust has assisted the club with the purchase of additional crockery, cutlery and chairs for its clubrooms.

David Jurlina, President, Eastern United Rugby & Sports Club says the resources enable the rooms to continue to be used regularly by a variety of community groups.

“Our clubrooms have the only registered kitchen in our areas that is big enough to cater for a large number of people and therefore they are used frequently by the sporting community and other community groups.

“Thanks to the generosity of The Lion Foundation, we are able to provide an additional boast of resources to ensure we can continue to service our area and beyond for many years to come. We are very appreciative for this support, particularly as it helps provides a sense of pride for club members and the community, and encourages sport.”

Operating for 24 years and one of the country’s most widely respected community trusts, The Lion Foundation funds a wide range of arts, cultural, sporting, educational and health focused causes, by distributing back to the local community the funds raised through its gaming venue in the Mangonui Hotel.

The Lion Foundation Chief Executive Phil Holden says the charitable trust is proud to support the club.

“Eastern United Rugby & Sports Club provides a unique service that is incredibly well used and supported by groups in the area. We know the club is committed to providing facilities of a safe and high standard, and we are proud to assist with this and make a difference in the community.”
