Homicide Investigation Continues In Ruakaka
Whangarei Police continue their homicide investigation, Operation Te Kamo, following the death of a 30 year old female in Ruakaka last night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Begbie advises that Police are not yet in the position to release the victim's name until next of kin have been advised and a formal identification has been carried out.
Police will be conducting a scene examination today with the assistance of ESR scientists, and Police expect to remove the victim's body today.
Members of the enquiry team will be continuing with interviews of witnesses and family members during the day, and canvassing of neighbours will also be conducted.
A 15yr old female family member is in Police custody having been charged with assault. Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with this death.
Police will issue a further media release shortly after 2pm today when it is hoped the victim's name can be released.
