12 year old girl transported to hospital by helicopter after falling from horse
The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter has transported a 12 year old girl to hospital today after she fell from her horse.
The helicopter, with two Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics onboard, responded to the call near Waikanae just after 11.00am today and was able to land in a paddock near the patient
The young girl had been jumping her horse in a training area when the accident happened. She suffered chest and abdominal injuries in the fall and was attended to by the helicopter paramedics and a Wellington Free Ambulance road crew before being flown to hospital.
She is currently in the Wellington Hospital emergency department being further assessed and treated for her injuries.
