Lake Wanaka to receive boost from TRENZ 2011

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (27 May, 2010) – Lake Wanaka’s profile within the global travel industry is set to receive a significant boost with the announcement that for the first time international travel trade show, TRENZ, will take place in Southern Lakes in 2011.

Southern Lakes includes Lake Wanaka, Queenstown and Fiordland and while the focus of TRENZ will be centred around Queenstown, international buyers from key travel organisations around the world will visit the entire region on planned famils.

Lake Wanaka Tourism general manager, James Helmore said hosting TRENZ provides an excellent opportunity for the region and its tourism operators. “Not only will we raise awareness of Lake Wanaka as a destination and but also our local tourism businesses can put themselves in front of influential buyers, not in an exhibition booth but surrounded by the spectacular landscape they live and work in.”

Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand (TRENZ) is the largest international showcase of New Zealand’s leading tourism and travel specialists. Staged by the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA), TRENZ is a significant annual event that brings together New Zealand tourism operators with international tourism buyers, in association with a substantial domestic and international media programme.
