Navigation Caution: Surveying at Whakatāne Harbour
Navigation Caution: Surveying at Whakatāne Harbour entrance
Wednesday 28 July, 2010.
The Eastern Bay
of Plenty Harbourmaster advises all vessel skippers using
the Whakatāne Harbour entrance to do so with caution.
A survey is being carried out in the harbour entrance to determine the depth of large rocks in this area. The survey involves a 5.5 metre white rigid inflatable vessel which will be continually moving across the entrance, stopping in places. The vessel will display the day mark, indicating a restriction in ability to manoeuvre.
Contact will be maintained on VHF channel 80. Please indicate your intentions prior to passing.
The surveying will take place
today (28 July) and tomorrow (29
July).
