Are you in the dog box?
Are you in the dog box?
If you are a dog owner and live in Auckland city, your dog should have a lime green registration tag on its collar by now as the new dog registration year began on 1 August. The red registration tag has now expired.
Dog owners who haven’t yet registered their dogs will now need to pay the standard registration fee which is up to a third more expensive than the early bird rates.
No matter what breed or size of dog you have, dog registration is compulsory for all dogs over the age of three months. If an Auckland city dog remains unregistered, the owner may be fined and the dog could be impounded.
Registering your dog has many benefits. If a registered dog is lost it can quickly and easily be identified by Animal Management and reunited with its owner, using its registration tag. Registration fees also help fund animal management services, including education and advice to dog owners about responsible dog ownership, and a 24-hour service to deal with wandering, noisy and aggressive dogs.
To request a dog registration form please phone 09 379 2020 or download a form at www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/dogs.
