100 Year Old Celebrates Birthday On Father's Day
Double Celebration: 100 Year Old Man Celebrates Historic Birthday On Father's Day
Father’s Day has taken on a whole new meaning for Napier man Tim Whale who will celebrate his 100th birthday today (Father’s Day) with more than 58 of his offspring.
The centenarian will celebrate his remarkable old age with a special Father's Day birthday party in Napier this Sunday with extended family and all his children present.
“Not many people could say that they get to celebrate their 100 birthday with all their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren present", says Tim who is looking forward to the double celebration.
During the last century Tim fathered nine children with his late wife Ivy May and now has a total of 23 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild – most of who will be there on Sunday.
Born on 7th September 1910 Tim is the oldest resident at Radius Hampton Court rest home where he now resides and believes that the secret to his remarkable old age is to keep active and busy and to help those in need.
“I’ve always kept busy, never got bored, never smoked – there’s always something you could be doing instead of watching TV. Perhaps my greatest achievement in my 100 years, aside from my family, is that my brother and I carved out Ruapehu’s Mountain Road that now services the popular Turoa skifield”, says Tim, a former farmer who is now enjoying retirement at Radius Hampton Court in Napier.
