Give my salary to the community

Give my salary to the community

This is the latest statement from Mayoral Candidate Jevan Goulter, If elected Jevan has opted not to receive the mayoral salary of around $80,000 a year “I do not want it or need it when I know that there are plenty of other communities in the city that need this money more than myself”.

Jevan Goulter is challenging each Mayoral Candidate in Wanganui who have other means of income to take up the same pledge to the public.

“Every other Mayoral Candidate has other means of income and I think that they would agree that the community need the mayoral salary more than they do or will, it also shows that the position of Mayor really will mean working for the people”

Jevan believes it really is about working for the people and not working for your own political agenda which is what has brought on this public announcement.

“There are so many deserving groups in our community who are under privileged and not sufficiently funded so I truly believe it would be wrong for me to draw a personal salary when I simply am standing to be elected to serve the people”.

Jevan hopes that other mayoral candidates will take this same pledge to the city of Wanganui, showing and proving to voters and residents that they really do care about the community.

"So Dot, Phillipa, Annette and Ray, will you make the same pledge to the Wanganui voters ?"
