$99 Weekly Rent For Displaced Quake Victims

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

$99 Weekly Rent For Displaced Quake Victims

From 20th September, UC Accommodation Student Village (UCA) will be offering displaced student and tertiary institution staff victims of the Canterbury earthquake affordable accommodation at just $99 per week.

UCA are the halls of residence on-campus at the University of Canterbury in Ilam. The village was made available free of charge directly after the quake to all UC staff and students as well as civil defence approved persons as a home away from home during the initial week, following the magnitude 7.1 earthquake.

“The Village suffered no damage so we can make a longer term offer to our tertiary student and staff community” said General Manager Darel Hall. “Rooms in our modern apartments at Ilam are available to tertiary students and staff who need temporary accommodation because of the earthquake”, he said.

UCA is planning to offer students the same offer for accommodation over the summer as a way for students to remain in Christchurch. After the September 4th earthquake the team at UCA decided bringing the offer forward was the right thing to do.

The $99 a week offer for displaced student and tertiary institution staff quake victims is valid from September 20th until the end of the academic year (November 21st 2010).

If you or someone you know has been displaced from their home due to the earthquake you can call UC Accommodation Student Village on 364 3444 and enquire about the $99 deal.

UC Accommodation Student Village works in partnership with the University of Canterbury; it is managed by Campus Living Villages NZ Ltd.
