Support offered for local newcomers at meeting next
week
ROTORUA 07.10.10: Rotorua
District Council’s (RDC) Settlement Support office is
offering local newcomers an opportunity to get to know one
another and find out what support is available to them at an
information meeting next Friday [15 October].
In response to the recent introduction of the New Zealand Immigration Advisers Licensing Act and changes to immigration policy, the meeting’s theme will be ‘What immigration support is available locally’.
RDC Settlement Support Coordinator Heather McAllister says the event will bring together local migrants, newcomers, services, and anyone with an interest in helping newcomers settle comfortably in Rotorua.
“Everyone is welcome to attend. It’s a great opportunity to meet other migrants and get an update about local services available in Rotorua.”
Speakers will include Heather McAllister, Citizens Advice Bureau’s Jane Eynon-Richards, Community Law’s Mayuan Si, and Office of Todd McClay – Member of Parliament for Rotorua’s Florence Brady.
The meeting is being held at the RDC Civic Centre on Friday 15 October from 12pm to 2pm. A light lunch will be provided.
Register with Heather McAllister on 350 0533 or email ssnzrotorua@rdc.govt.nz by Tuesday 11 October.
