International wine industry guests venture out to South Island wine regions
New Zealand ’s famed spectacular views and outdoors are the backdrop for technical tours tomorrow as part of the Wine Discovery New Zealand 2010 event.
International visitors from across the various parts of the wine industry will venture out of the city and experience first hand the South Island ’s stunning wine regions.
In small groups, the visitors that represent the great wine regions of the world that are members of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network, will travel to Nelson, Marlborough, Waipara and Central Otago to discover the secrets behind New Zealand’s premium wine.
The tour to Canterbury Waipara, will take in
the internationally recognised Waipara Valley bio-diversity
trail to learn more about the 'Greening of Waipara Project'
from senior academics and winemakers.
The guests will be
wined and dined on the heritage rail trail through the
spectacular Weka Pass to Waikari and back again.
Following a day outdoors visiting the regions attendees will gather back in Christchurch city and for the next two days to hear from international and local experts on both the business and scientific aspects of the wine industry in the form of two symposia that offers insights into the developments at the leading edge of both aspects that underpin winemaking.
On Wednesday they will also have a truly unique opportunity to take part in the International Wine Tasting, the tasting which is open to the general public will showcase a selection of wine from each of the Great Wine Capitals alongside New Zealand ’s best.
