Silver Ferns Launch Scratchy Bus Road Trip For Starship

A shooting star from Commonwealth Games gold medal winning Silver Ferns, Maria Tutaia, scratched and won $1,000 for their chosen charity Starship Hospital, at the launch of Instant Kiwi’s Scratchy Bus Road Trip in Auckland on Saturday 13 November.

The Instant Kiwi Scratchy Bus is exactly that, a world-first scratchable bus that will travel the length of the country giving away prizes. The bus has a specially constructed giant scratchable surface covering its outside – with tens of thousands of colourful scratchy panels which conceal prizes underneath.

The bus, which starts its nation-wide road trip in Kaitaia on Monday 15 November, follows a successful relaunch and refresh of Instant Kiwi tickets in May. Since the relaunch, New Zealanders have won an extra $10 million in prizes.

Every panel on the bus wins a prize, and prizes range from a $1 Instant Kiwi ticket to a massive $10,000 cash prize – and it will be free for everyone to play!*

The bus will be hard to miss in more ways than one, according to NZ Lotteries’ Chief Executive Todd McLeay.

“The bus is very big, bright and colourful, and will be easy to spot as it visits nearly every main centre from Kaitaia to Invercargill,” says Mr McLeay.

“We relaunched Instant Kiwi this year, because after 20 years, we have many loyal Instant Kiwi players around New Zealand. We wanted to reward them with exciting new tickets, more chances of winning, and better prizes – so we did. The scratchy bus concept is a fun way to take some more instant wins to communities throughout New Zealand.”
