Outgames registrations about to close

Registrations for the sports events and human rights conference at the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames close on 26 February. If you want to take your place in this unique event, you will need to act quickly.

Already over 1200 people have registered, with over 220 of those coming to the human rights conference, to be held in the Wellington Town Hall.

Participants and supporters come from 21 countries: New Zealand and Australia, Fiji, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, the Philippines, India, Nepal, Malaysia, China, Japan, the United States of America, Canada, and seven European countries.

The most popular events are swimming (with over 150 participants) followed by running, dancesport, ten pin bowling and volleyball.

In addition to the sports competitions and conference there is a wide range of other activities available. One of the most recent to be confirmed is a guided shore scuba dive with all gear, transport and post-dive refreshments provided (http://www.wellingtonoutgames.com/beach_scuba_dive).

And the entertainment programme for Hoea!, the Outgames Cultural Dinner in the capital’s brand-new wharewaka (canoe house), will be impressive. One of the top groups competing at the Te Matatini, the National Kapa Haka Festival that just ended, has confirmed that it will perform for us

The full range of Outgames activities, with dates and times, prices and booking details, is on the website www.wellingtonoutgames.com. You can register online at the same site.

The 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames will be held March 12-19, in Wellington, New Zealand. Registrations close 26 February.
