Countdown Supermarkets - Christchurch Earthquake Update #8
Countdown Supermarkets - Christchurch Earthquake Update #8
The operations of Countdown Supermarkets remain disrupted following the Christchurch earthquake.
Ten of Countdown’s 15 stores in the Christchurch area are open. Eight out of the ten SuperValue & Fresh Choice stores are open.
The stores which remain closed have suffered significant damage. Countdown will not open stores until it is safe to do and we will be in a better position to advise on potential store openings later this week.
Countdown’s supply chain is beginning to return to normal operations with regular deliveries to all stores across Christchurch and the South Island. We continue to experience shortages on some products but availability is improving with each day.
Our team has worked tirelessly to get stores cleaned up, re-stocked and re-opened where possible. We continue to encourage our team members to contact our stores and distribution centres to advise if they are in a position to return to work. Those team members who are unsure of who to contact in relation to their store can phone 0800 40 40 40.
Over $185,000
has been donated for the Salvation Army Canterbury
Earthquake Appeal by customers and employees through
checkouts at Countdown, Woolworths, Foodtown, SuperValue &
FreshChoice stores. Customers can contribute donations at
our stores throughout New Zealand. In addition, Woolworths
Limited in Australia is accepting donations through all
Woolworths supermarkets and Dick Smith stores.
Information will continue to be provided on the
Countdown website at www.countdown.co.nz and our facebook
page at www.facebook.com/countdown.
