A total fire ban for Christchurch city (urban areas), has been put in place, effective immediately.
The ban will continue until further notice.
There continues to be a
Restricted Fire Season* in place for rural areas in
Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.
*A Restricted Fire Season requires people seeking to light a fire gain a permit from their local council.
