Waitakere Ethnic Board: Earthquake In Japan
Statement By The Waitakere Ethnic Board On The
Earthquake In Japan And The Resulting Tsunami Warning
Throughout The Pacific
A massive earthquake measuring 8.9 struck Sendai, Japan and set off tsunami alerts across the entire Pacific region. We can not even imagine the magnitude of loss at this stage. It is an extremely sad moment for the entire world.
The scale of destruction that has taken place in Japan is still to be measured and it will take some time before the actual loss of life and property is determined. A very conservative estimate seems to be in excess of US$ 35 billion.
On behalf of the Waitakere Ethnic Board, we would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the people of Japan and send our message of solidarity and prayers during this difficult time. We hope that you will remain steadfast amidst all the challenges of coping with such tragedy. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We want you to know that that we are thinking of you through this tough and difficult time. Our thoughts and hearts go out to you. We pray that God give you the strength and courage to remain strong during this time of extreme stress.
