Zoo says Hola to South American wildlife these school holidays
Auckland Zoo is celebrating all things South America these April School Holidays from Saturday, 16 April to Sunday, 1 May.
Half of the world’s plants and animal species can be found in South America, so the Zoo will help children discover more about this amazing area and its South American animals including the pygmy marmosets, macaws and cotton-top tamarins.
There are interactive games for children, including a giant ‘Snakes and Ladders’, where taking positive action for the environment will bring you closer to the finish, while damaging the environment will set you back.
For those who like a bit more competition, teams of children will be pitted against each other to put together a map of South America in true Survivor-style.
Plus, there will be spot prizes every day from the new movie Rio, which is in cinemas now.
Activities will take place from 10am to 2pm and as well as the games, there will be special animal encounters with the Zoo’s tarantulas, Galapagos tortoises, macaws and spider monkeys.
There will be
plenty to see and do at the Zoo these April school holidays,
so make sure you bring the kids along. Normal zoo admission
prices apply. Visit www.aucklandzoo.co.nz
