Easter antics at Hill St Farmers Market

PRESS RELEASE - 18 April 2011

Easter antics at Hill St Farmers Market… plus innovative Friends of the Market programme launched!

Calling all junior chocolate lovers and their parents! Hill St Farmers Market will be holding its annual Hill St Farmers Market Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday 23 April. The market will be open as usual between 8:30am-12:30pm this Saturday regardless of the weather. Children simply need to drop by the market information stall at any stage during the morning for instructions on the hunt. They are also invited to join in Easter Rose Cross making and other Easter craft activities run by the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul as part of the market’s Easter celebrations.

While children are occupied with craft and eggs, parents can grab a coffee from Franca e Franca and one of their delicious traditional Italian style donuts (made with potatoes!) and sign up to be a “Friend of the Hill St Farmers Market”. This new innovative programme was launched in early April by the Thorndon Farmers Market Trust, the not for profit trust which runs the market on a volunteer basis. The programme provides “Friends” with weekly Friends-only discounts at the market and the opportunity to occasionally sell their own surplus garden produce or home made products at the market free of charge. All for just $25! Plus “Friends” can feel good knowing they’re supporting Wellington’s best little food market and are part of a growing community of loyal marketgoers. For more information about the Friends programme, marketgoers can drop in at the Market Information Stall any Saturday or email info@hillstfarmersmarket.org.nz.
