Exciting action from Super City Uni Games

TRANS-TASMAN RIVALRY TESTED IN TOUCH RUGBY
The Australian Catholic University (ACU) team isn’t perturbed about being the only Australian side competing in this week’s Super City Uni Games in Auckland. In fact the 11-strong team is looking forward to injecting some old fashioned trans-Tasman rivalry in the mixed touch rugby tournament and being challenged by defending champions AUT.

CHIROPRACTORS MAKES UNI GAMES DEBUT
As tertiary students from around the country compete for gold at the Super City Uni Games, for one team just participating is an achievement.
The New Zealand College of Chiropractic (NZCC) has sent their first team to participate at this year’s games hosted Auckland University of Technology (AUT) and Auckland Student Movement at AUT (AuSM).

ELITE FENCERS TO BATTLE IT OUT AT GAMES
Two of New Zealand’s best fencers will duel for gold at the 2011 Super City University Games.
Monique Coleman (AUT) and Anna Soboleva (Lincoln University) have both achieved at the highest level and are looking to add a Uni games gold medal to their resumes. With both athletes ranked in the top ten in the country, the fencing competition is set to be one of the highlights of the games.

CANTERBURY UNIVERSITY: The ‘Ultimate’ at Frisbee
Ultimate Frisbee may sound like a foreign game to many, but for Canterbury University students it’s their bread and butter sport of the 2011 Super City Uni Games. Of the 28 students competing from Canterbury, half of them make up the Ultimate Frisbee team.

AUT HAS NATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE ON BOARD
Phillis Meti, 2006 Women’s World Golf Long Drive Champion, has put aside her clubs and picked up a paddle for the 2011 Super City Uni Games.
The AUT student has returned to New Zealand after being overseas in The United States and Australia crafting her golfing skills. In addition to competing in the US, Meti participated in the Australian Ladies Masters Golf tournament.
