Christchurch Fire Service Update
Christchurch Fire Service Update
Calls for assistance to the Fire Service in Christchurch have eased following this afternoon’s aftershocks. Firefighters assisted with the rescue of two people from a church near Latimer Square but there has been no need for any further rescues and the Urban Search and Rescue team has been stood down. Crews continue to respond to calls for assistance with liquefaction, flooding, burst pipes and possible gas leaks and we expect the number to increase as people return home to inspect the damage.
We intend to put out a final update at about 8pm.
