Go,Innovate! Competition Massey University

The Go, Innovate! Business Idea competition run by the Massey University Business Student Group (BSG) and now in its second year, encourages Massey University students to submit their most innovative business ideas.

Students from all disciplines were invited to submit their idea or product concept and the 20 entries were evaluated in an initial round by judges at the ecentre, the University’s business innovation centre which helps people with innovative ideas create successful global companies.

“It is great that we have received entries from disciplines ranging from engineering to information systems to business.” says Sabrina Nagel, one of the preliminary judges at the ecentre. “This drives the cross-college collaboration we strongly encourage as the most successful businesses are driven by multi-disciplinary teams.”

The 7 semi-finalists presented to a panel of judges at the ecentre to battle over the 5 spots available in the final. At stake is the chance to win $5,000 fees bursary from Massey University and a space on the ecentreSprint programme to further develop their idea, which is valued at over $15,000. Steve Corbett, CEO of the ecentre was very impressed with the quality of the presentations and the enthusiasm of the students.

The five finalists will present their idea at an evening event on the 30th of June at 6pm in the Sir Neil Waters lecture theatre of Massey University. The five finalists are: engineering student Jarrod Burton who designed an innovative keyboard, biochemistry student Mack Saraswat-with his idea Zoomapper.com, a social network for pet lovers, engineering student Mark Tomlinson with Second screen, a business application which allows you to work on two screens simultaneously, business student Rosanna Ede with a concept of a unique car buying website and computer science student Ricktus Loke with his idea of a computer and network security system.
