New Snow arrives
First a dusting over
Wednesday and then a decent westerly dollop Thursday morning
followed by a day of snow showers has made an amazing
difference to the mountain. The problem being it fell
straight on to quite warm ground! Photo's courtesy of Gary
Mewse.
So we have a great looking mountain and a decent base. To get a comparision check out the Day Lodge Web cam on Tuesday and then today! What a difference.
Limited
opening
After receiving 35cm of snow in the last 36
hours Treble Cone will have a limited opening of the platter
lift and beginners area on Sunday 10th July. This snowfall
fell on to bare ground without a base and as such Treble
Cone requires either 48 hours snowmaking or another
substantial snowfall to open the home basin. The Amisfield
bubbles will await the opening of the home basin for those
of you concerned about this.
Mountain food & beverage, rental and snowsports school will all be operating. The Learners lift is free of charge at Treble Cone. Scenic chair rides will be offered from noon - 1pm with visitors able to enjoy the stunning views over Lake Wanaka from the sheltered base area.
The new Wanaka office on Dungarvon St overlooking Pembroke park will switch to winter hours and be open from 3 to 6pm daily for season pass pick up and new visitor inquiries and ticketing.
ABSOLUT
Ice
This Tuesday look out for the creation of some
amazing ice sculptures around the base area to add interest
to an already stunning view. If you get a chance to get up
on the mountain be sure to vote and for those who can't
check it all out on TC's facebook and vote there.
There
is a $1000 cheque for the winner and the public vote counts
so be heard.
TCpass site live
For those who
already have a tcpass its time to log in and have a little sniff around
what will soon become a personal favourite. The graph
awaits your personal vertical. Fill in your profile, and
yes your music choice will have a bearing on what we play up
the mountain!
For those looking to visit the ski area later this season this takes over as our online shop, creating a profile for new users and allowing you to add products which will be loaded to your tcpass and printed from any sales window or the Wanaka office.
Cheers and
look forward to this season!
