ARTrove presents its first exhibition

ARTrove presents its first exhibition

22 September 2011

A new Wellington art co-operative, ARTrove, is holding its first exhibition next month, which will include work from some of the capital’s favourite artists.

ARTrove was started by three local artists, Adele Eagleson, Karen Hamilton-Smith and Kirsty Fyfe, who are passionate about creativity and about sharing affordable art with the public.

As well as exhibiting their own work, they invited some of Wellington’s highly established artists to take part in their inaugural exhibition and the result is the ‘*Popular Wellington Artists**’ show. This *will be held from Thursday October 6 to Wednesday October 19, 2011 in the First Floor Gallery of the St James Theatre in Courtenay Place.

The work of the following artists will be on show:

Anna Stichbury

Adele Eagleson

Cam Munroe

Danny Von Landall

Julie Heffernan

Melissa Young

Paul Vincent

Karen Hamilton-Smith

Kirsty Fyfe

There will be a stunning range of artwork for sale, including oil, acrylic and mixed media paintings, printmaking and bronze sculptures. Prices will range from NZ$50 to $3,000.

Kirsty Fyfe said the group hoped this exhibition would be the first of many.

“We came up with the name ARTrove because, firstly, we like to think that together we can create a true treasure trove of art and, secondly, we intend to rove around holding exhibitions throughout Wellington and maybe further afield.”

‘*Popular Wellington Artists**’ *is having a Meet-the-Artists night on Monday 10 October, from 5pm to 8pm. For more information and a taste of the artwork visit www.artrove.co.nz.
