Urgent fundraising appeal for Manukura burrow cam

Urgent fundraising appeal for Manukura burrow cam

Pukaha Newsletter

Manukura, our little white kiwi, has had a successful few weeks settling in to her new home in the kiwi house. She has managed the gradual transition from her-day to our-day very well and is now able to be viewed in her enclosure during opening hours, 9.00 am to 4.30 pm daily.

Manukura burrow-cam appeal - $10,000 needed
We have launched a burrow-cam appeal as we wish to purchase special lighting and some additional cameras and AV equipment for Manukura's enclosure. These enhancements will ensure all visitors to Pukaha get a very good look at our special kiwi as she moves freely in her enclosure.

For such a young kiwi she had had some high adventure so we are also making a short film that will show in our kiwi theatre.

Please help us make this film and purchase the new AV equipment by donating today on our secure donation system here. There are donation options to suit all. We urgently need to raise $10,000.00.

If you would prefer to post a cheque, please send it to:

Pukaha Mount Bruce Trust
P. O Box 680,
Masterton 5840
All donation over $5.00 are tax deductible.

An asset for Wairarapa and Tararua regions
Manukura has received world-wide attention since she hatched on 1 May this year. She has attracted hundreds of additional visitors to the region and gained a following of thousands on her very own Facebook page.

When wishes come true
Last month we enjoyed a visit from the Poa family. David Poa, age 10, is from Mangere East and made a wish through the Make a Wish Foundation, to visit Manukura. He became interested in her when he read about her swallowing the stones and having them retrieved using some special endoscopic procedures. Like Manukura, David has an intestinal ailment.

David and Manukura got on famously. We were delighted to see David and his family at Pukaha and are thrilled they are now members. We take this opportunity to welcome all our new members.
