Weather Gets An Extension
The resounding word coming
from weather reports this week has been ‘uncertain’.
Hawke’s Bay Civil Defence Emergency Management Group continues to watch and monitor the slow moving low pressure system and the periods of moderate rain still falling across the region.
Advice over the Easter long weekend is to take care. Some roads are marginal, the state highways into and out of the region are prone to slips and there is potential for temporary road closures due to slip damage.
HBCDEM Group Manager Ian Macdonald says,
“Take care, travel early and if possible during daylight
hours.
Be prepared in your vehicle – that means carry
enough food, water, clothing or blankets and it pays to have
a first aid kit handy.”
The coastal swell is easing, ground throughout the region is saturated and river levels are likely to fluctuate as light to moderate rain continues in some areas through the weekend.
Information on preparedness, roads and weather reports can be accessed from the HBCDEM website www.hbemergency.govt.nz.
