First FebFast Recipients Receive FebFast Funds

“Evolve is a fitting recipient for FebFast because it offers support and assistance to youth and does a whole range of activities from social work to health promotion for Wellington.”

Evolve Wellington’s Manager Kirstin Smith said that Evolve is all about reducing barriers and improving access to healthcare for young people.

“With Febfast funding we’ve been able to take a step further and employ a drug and alcohol counsellor to work with the rest of our team to provide a ‘wraparound’ service for young people,” Smith said.

“We’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who participated in FebFast, to all the people who sponsored us, and to the Drug Foundation for making it happen.”

Three other youth charities will receive FebFast funding over the next week. These are Rainbow Youth (Auckland), CareNZ (Waikato), and the ADHD Association (national).

2012 is the second year the Drug Foundation has run FebFast in New Zealand. In 2011 and 2012 there were over 700 participants with well over $107,000 raised each year.
