Youthline celebrates Youth Week 2012
Youthline celebrates Youth Week 2012
Today marks the start of
Youth Week around New Zealand and youth organisation,
Youthline couldn’t be more pleased with the theme for this
year.
“Love the Skin You’re In” is a really fitting
way to celebrate young people and who they are, with all
their unique personalities, interests and lives, says
Youthline Auckland CEO, Stephen Bell.
To mark the
occasion, Youthline will be holding their annual street
appeal, raising awareness about their services as well as
much needed funds.
“As testament to the fantastic young
people we have in this country we will have some of our
energetic volunteers out on the streets, giving up their
time to help us and other young people in New Zealand,”
says Bell.
Each year over 72,000 volunteer hours
are contributed across the country, through phone, text,
email counselling, mentoring, event volunteering and more.
“The success of Youthline really does rely on the
people, especially the young people who put so much of
themselves into it and Youth Week, for us, is about
acknowledging those people and what they contribute as well
as celebrating youth in general.
Youth is such a
crucial time in a person’s life and Youthline is here to
help develop, nurture and support them through that stage,
so we hope people will give generously during the annual
appeal so we can continue to do what we do,” he
adds.
