World's Longest Ice Cream Sundae attempt

PRESS RELEASE

On Friday the 22nd of June, local youth organisation Zeal are partnering together with Wellington High School to break the record for the World's Longest Ice Cream Sundae. At 100 metres, the attempt intends to dwarf the previous record of 47 metres held by the Turner Community Library in Kansas, USA.

The sundae will comprise 100 metres of spouting supplied by local businessman Jonathan Leonard from Capital Continuous Spouting, and will be filled with 400 litres of Ice Cream, 400 fair-trade Bananas, and mountains of whipped cream and chocolate sauce courtesy of Tip Top, All Good Bananas and Pak'nSave Kilbirnie respectively.

“ Wellington High School is one of the most creative schools in the most creative city in Aotearoa. It seems like they should be the school to do it!” said Youth Worker Anna Macrae.

Five staff and over 50 students will assemble the monstrosity on the day with over 1000 students from Wellington High School and Massey University doing the hard work to devour it. This will be the first attempt in New Zealand to break the record, joining the list of over 100 other Kiwi-held Guinness World Records.

"Wellington High School are unbelievably excited to be hosting this groundbreaking event" said new Deputy Principal Anya Satyanand.
