Setting the challenge to Upper Hutt’s mature residents
The due date for the Upper Hutt Mature Residents survey has been extended until Friday 5th October, giving mature residents more time to have their say about what’s important to them when looking at safety and wellbeing in Upper Hutt.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 20 SEP 2012—Upper Hutt City Council launched its second Mature Resident’s Survey in mid-August 2012, calling on the city’s residents aged over 50 to tell them what they think. The survey, supported by the Hutt Valley District Health Board, aims to identify local needs and opportunities for action.
To date, Council has received more than 400 responses but is looking for more feedback. Upper Hutt City Council’s Community Development Advisor, Frances McEwen says, “We have decided to extend the due date to Friday 5 October to allow more time for mature residents to have their say. I was involved with the last Youth Survey, where we received more than 1000 responses. We would like to challenge our mature residents to outdo the young people of Upper Hutt and have their voices heard!”
There are numerous ways people can have their say. Surveys can be picked up from Council, the Library, Expressions, Work and Income, Orongomai Marae, and other community venues. They are also available on request by emailing community@uhcc.govt.nz or calling (04) 527 2793. And for all those IT savvy residents, you can complete the survey online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/matureresidents
Ms McEwen also wants to remind people that all completed surveys go in the draw to win a $200 voucher to an Upper Hutt retailer of your choice! The survey is completely confidential and the information received does not identify individual people. “Our goal is reach at least 800 responses, but it would be amazing to beat the young people’s return rate and hit more than 1000. We hope that by offering the survey online, we can reach this target by 5 October”.
