Shedding the light on charity for blind diners
Two charitable blind dining events will be held at the five-star Auckland waterfront restaurant Euro to raise money for cbm on 17 and 24 October.
The unique sensory experience aims to raise awareness of cbm, an international aid organisation dedicated to working with persons with disabilities in the world’s poorest countries.
“Being without sight for the evening will give people a unique perspective on what it is like to live with a life-altering disability,” says Darren Ward, cbm National Director.
Euro is owned by acclaimed New Zealand chef and proud cbm supporter Simon Gault.
Mr Gault says: “I am honoured to be able to support cbm and bring awareness to their work such as their Child Sponsorship programmes. It’s a fantastic charity and I know Auckland will get behind this worthwhile and exciting event.
“We’re looking forward to taking the diners on a sensory adventure. It really is an experience everyone should try once in their life.”
Diners will have no prior knowledge of the dishes or beverages on the menu, and will be blind folded on arrival.
“Blind dining is back for a second time in Auckland because diners really enjoy the experience of testing their senses over a three course meal and helping cbm in the process,” added Mr Ward.
cbm’s Child Sponsorship programme focuses on supporting and educating children living with a disability and poverty. The money raised from the blind dining will go towards stopping disabled children’s needless suffering in regions such as Africa, Asia and South America.
The events will take place at Euro, located at Princes Wharf, on the 17 and 24 October. Tickets are priced at $150.00 per person, which includes a full three course meal complete with matching wine for each course and $50 per diner is donated to cbm.
