Unison Rugby Winner Flying High on Birthday

Thursday 11 October 2012 – Sam Smith was flying high on his birthday last night, arriving to the Magpies final home game by helicopter.
Sam, who turned nine yesterday, won Unison’s competition to fly into the Magpies vs. Canterbury match at McLean Park on the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter by correctly answering five rugby-related questions on Unison’s Rugby Zone website.
The helicopter delivered Sam and his mother along with Magpies Michael Coman and Zac Guildford to the field just before kick-off.
Sam’s mother said it was an amazing night
“We both had such a great time. The helicopter ride was fantastic, the pilot Jeremy Bruce and crewman Geoff Taylor were so friendly and made sure we knew exactly what to do and where to go.
“Mike and Zac were just outstanding, and so great with Sam. I doubt I’ll ever be able to top this birthday present!”
Sam then got to enjoy the Magpies final home game for the season from the side-line, where he was seated on the reserve players’ bench.
“The helicopter ride with Mike and Zac was heaps of fun. Thank you to Unison and thank you to the Magpies for letting me sit on their bench!”
This is the second year Unison has offered the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter ride as part of its sponsorship of Hawke’s Bay junior rugby.
Unison’s Marketing Coordinator, Jamie-Lee Patchett said Unison was delighted to be able to partner two of its major sponsorships to offer the opportunity.
“This prize is certainly one of the highlights of the season for Unison – we really enjoyed seeing the huge smile on Sam’s face as he exited the helicopter.”
