IBC to discuss good year of progress at AGM

The Independent Broadcasting Community is looking forward to discussing a positive year with it’s membership.

The IBC, which runs student radio station, Contact FM, is holding its AGM on Monday, 12 November 2012 at 6:30pm. This will be held on Level 1 of the Student Centre at the University of Waikato, opposite Bennetts Bookstore.

At the AGM, there will discussion about the successful implementation of a reliable online stream for Contact FM, the two months of listenership statistics that will have been acquired at the time of the AGM and the projects around the community that Contact FM has been involved with over the past year.

Current IBC Secretary, Daniel Farrell, said, “We are very happy with the 2011/12 year. There is a lot of good things that we need to celebrate at this AGM. There are, of course, some things that haven’t been so good that we will also be discussing. This includes our unsuccessful bid to bring the 89FM frequency back to the University of Waikato.”

There will also be the nomination and voting for new members of the IBC Committee. Two positions are available on the committee, with Dileepa Fonseka’s two-year term being fulfilled and Stan Jagger now being overseas and unable to continue on the committee. The two members voted on will join Nick Johnston, Lauren KBell, Daniel Farrell and Ayman Aneece who will continue in the second year of their term on the committee.

Any IBC member wishing to put forward motions for the AGM should go to http:// ibc.contactfm.co.nz/AGM2012 and fill out the form. These motions must be received before 9am on November 1st.

Current IBC Chairperson, Nick Johnston, said, “We have big plans for Contact FM and we are keen to work with anyone that is interested in developing a dedicated source for alternative music in Hamilton.”
