15-year-old Airlifted From Island
Last night the Tauranga based TrustPower TECT rescue helicopter was called out to Great Mercury Island in the Coromandel. A 15 year old Tauranga girl was having difficulty breathing as a result of a medical condition. The girl was on the Island as part of a school camp. She was treated at the scene by the helicopter paramedics before being flown to Tauranga hospital in a comfortable condition. The flight was carried out with the aid of Night Vision equipment.
