Life Flight Transports One After Collision
Life Flight transports one after collision between bus and van
Life Flight transported a seriously ill man from the scene of a major accident near Otaki late this afternoon.
A Life Flight team responded aboard the Westpac Rescue Helicopter with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic onboard.
The team was called to a collision between a bus and a van on St Hwy at Riverbed Road just after 4pm.
On our arrival we found one seriously ill man being treated by St John and Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics in the back of an ambulance. The man was the driver of the bus.
“There we over 30 people in the bus and another six or so in the van so all in all it is quite lucky that this didn’t turn into a major casualty incident” says Dave Greenberg, Life Flight crewman.
The Palmerston North man, in his 50’s, appears to have suffered a medical incident which then lead to the collision. He has been transported to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where he is currently being assessed and treated.
